I Iove this soooo much!!! D: All the gorgeous details, and everything else about it is just perfect (complete with Luna’s typical silly attempts to wear hats)! ;D Thank you again for this wonderful surprise, dear!! :D <3<3<3
Birthday gift from Sayh to Swandog of their characters Onyx and Luna
This was a blast to draw, I rarely get to draw either kind of species, so it was a treat :)
We are absolutely ecstatic to see how this utterly amazing and gorgeous suit came out; it is everything we hoped it would be, and more…And it looks exactly like the char art (which is really impressive, since he has such a complex char)! :D Thank you for all the time and effort you’ve put into it; it was well-worth the wait, and as others have stated previously, you’ve simply outdone yourself this time! :) Can’t wait to finally debut it at CF!! <3
Panduck Fursuit Finished by *Beetlecat
—
This is Panduck, a red panda/mandarin duck gryphon.
This has been my most complicated completed costume yet - A unique styled head with vision from under the beak, complicated markings and too many furs for me to remember off the top of my head, and those wings!
A little history first, I have been working on this project for a while and so this costume is actually a collection of several years worth of work which makes it rather unique IMO since even *I* cannot remake another like it XD
The head was originally created almost exactly 4 years ago - I remade several parts on it recently to bring them up to my current standards, but most of it is original. Amusingly, since the beak is foam not plastic as I would use now, it is actually lighter in weight than a head I made now would likely be.
The feet and most of the bodysuit were made around the same time as the head and the hands a while later. I had made a tail but decided recently to make a totally new one to bring it up to current standards. The wing frame has been in various stages of construction and has been remade a few times over the years but the coverings (ie feathers) and the attachments to the body are totally brand new.
The wings are about 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide and weigh just over 10 pounds (includes both wings and the back plate and all attachments). The wings naturally stay extended (in that half open position) but can be manually collapsed for transport (or to fit through doors) but then will spring back out once released.
They are attached to the body using a new method I do not think has been used in this fandom before which is very secure and easy to wear since it provides full body support (rather than a harness which digs into the shoulders or the waist). They can detach without taking the bodysuit off, but they can also stay attached so that one person can conceivably put the costume on (though having a 2nd makes it much quicker as they can support the wings).
Once on, despite how intricate it is, the whole costume is as easy to wear as any other classic fursuit and can come off in seconds, which is everything that I was hoping for when I started making it :D Since I believe no matter how great a fursuit looks, it’s not actually useable unless it is comfortable as well.
I am very happy with how this project has come together. I really had no idea when i started it and had to make up a lot of new stuff along the way, which has, I believe, expanded my abilities, as well as my perception of my own abilities, as a costume artist.
I really hope the owner has as much fun with this costume as I have and that it is everything that I want it to be for them.
My most complicated costume yet ^_^
I am SO excited to see it completed and very happy with how much it looks like the references!
While building this fursuit, I better discovered what is possible in current and future costumes :D So very glad I had the opportunity to work on this and push myself.
I will write up a proper explanation w/pics of the costume when I have a chance. Until then, enjoy this small fullbody taste of our newest Beetlecat Original’s family member :)
Swan
This is the process of making the “Swan” card. The background is painted with Ecoline watercolors, white ink and golden acrylic paint (which you can’t see really good in the scan). The part with the swan is a paper cut-out and also touched up with golden paint. The eye of the swan is a little plastic gem.

Still a WIP. I’m having some trouble getting the colors down, so we’ll see how long it takes me to finish it.
wings are hard omgAbsolutely beautiful. <333 Reminds me of a deity, I love the hands and wings…
<3<3<3!!! :D
Because I like you folks for sitting through non-full fursuit photos for 3 long months D: here is a Tumblr only teaser of what all of those wing photos have become - a rather large red panda-duck sitting on my couch 0_0
These are turning out unbelievably awesome!! :D The feather detailing is just superb!! Absolutely love them!! <333
Changes since last time (when everything was pinned in place): Sail feathers attached and airbrushed. More feather trimming/definition.
All pre-attachment sewing (machine and hand and reinforcement of seams with glue when needed) is finished. To be done:
Glue down fur feathering. Make sure everything is attached and secure. Airbrush everything to spec/to match. Final detailing. Test.Even though I do need to pick up a few more supplies, I should still have the wings complete in a couple days.
My goal is to have the whole costume complete by the weekend, so that we can test it in a larger space. and make sure it works as intended/does not shift/is comfortable/looks great.
